(“PIE”) is a professional service company founded in 2002 and has been operating since 2003.  Our mission is to provide exceptional services that exceed your expectations.   PIE provides staffing, recruiting, and human resources consulting solutions to federal agencies, municipalities, colleges, and Fortune 500 companies.

Our Team

  • Founder, CEO & President

    An active community leader, Phillips serves on several boards, including First Independence Bank and its holding company, First Independence Corporation. He is also a board member of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce and was recently appointed to the board of the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN).  

    Phillips has a rich history of service on various boards, including the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC), where he served as Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee, and the Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee. His other appointments include the Michigan Athletic Board of Control (now known as the Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission), the City of Detroit Local Development Finance Authority, the Booker T. Washington Business Association, and the Horatio Williams Foundation.

    Throughout his career, Phillips has received numerous accolades, including selection to Leadership Detroit XXIV Class, Crain’s Business 40 Under 40 Class of 2003, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Detroit Cohort II, and the inaugural cohort of the EY Entrepreneurs Access Network.

    Phillips is a proud graduate of Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan. He holds a B.B.A. and an M.B.A. from Delaware State University, as well as a J.D. from the University of Minnesota. 

  • Senior Director of Operations

    Stacy Kendrick has been an integral part of PIE since 2016, bringing nearly a decade of expertise in operational leadership and client collaboration. As Senior Director of Operations, she oversees the agency’s day-to-day functions, manages a dynamic team of recruiters, and drives initiatives to streamline workflows and enhance service delivery. Known for her strategic approach and commitment to excellence, Stacy works closely with clients to ensure their evolving needs are met with efficiency and care.

  • Director of Human Resources

    Tanya Andrews-Knight Tanya Andrews-Knight has been with PIE since its inception in 2003.  Tanya currently serves as the Director of HR.  In this role, she leads a wide range of responsibilities that include recruiting, interviewing, on-boarding of new hires, management of payroll and employee benefits, and the management of invoicing and collections.  Additionally, Tanya serves as a vital liaison with clients, committed to ensuring efficiency, and fostering strong client relationships. 

  • Senior Healthcare Recruiter

    Michele Mast has worked in the healthcare industry for over 20 years, starting her career as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) then transitioning to a healthcare recruiter.  Michele joined PIE as a Senior Healthcare Recruiter. In her role as Senior Healthcare Recruiter, she recruits within the healthcare industry for several clients, including the Michigan Department of Corrections, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and Henry Ford Health.  Throughout her career, Michele has fostered several relationships within healthcare as a healthcare professional as well as a healthcare recruiter.  Michele strives on the PIE mission of providing exceptional service and exceeding the expectations of the client.

  • Grand Rapids Office Manager

    Debi has been with PIE for over half a decade.  During that time, she has worked closely with our clients within the Metro Grand Rapids area.  Some of her duties include the hiring of potential candidates, employee relations, and managing several administrative services for our clients.  With over twenty-five years of HR experience, Debi works closely with the various client supervisors within Metro Grand Rapids to fill job openings in a timely manner. Debi assists clients by responding to questions they may have, as well as assisting with personnel issues.
