Basic Function

The position is primarily responsible for providing immediate, personal court-related services to the general public, attorneys and other government agencies. The position requires a comprehensive knowledge of court practices and procedures as it relates to diverse case types:  civil, family, paternity, small claims, traffic, forfeiture and criminal. The position must efficiently transfer knowledge to a particular situation and perform duties in the presence of the patron while they wait at the window or over the phone. 
 
 Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Open, process, and distribute mail correspondence.
  • Process interim filings (i.e. motions, affidavits, jury requests) and determine appropriate disbursement of the documents.
  • Respond to incoming requests for services not provided by the Clerk of Courts department by referring court users to other resources, including county agencies, legal aid services, state agencies, and other public and private social services.
  • Scan documents.
  • Answer telephone calls from the general public, attorneys, police agencies, other governmental agencies responding to inquires accurately and independently or referring as needed to the proper party.
  • Greet attorneys, litigants and citizens daily; determine the nature of their visit and service being sought.
  • Determine if customer is filing proper documentation, paying appropriate fees and advise as to proper filing requirements and/or service per state statutes. Explains procedures, court forms and verifies information.
  • Docket and scan requests, set cases for hearings, satisfy judgments, produce transcripts and produce writs when determined appropriate or as ordered by the court.
  • Perform after-court criminal/traffic processing (i.e. calculate fines, costs, appropriate surcharges and restitution; prepare payment envelopes; determine the status of cash bail posted if appropriate; produce OWI assessment; produce appropriate paperwork for  the DMV, probation and parole and Alternatives to Incarceration (ATIP); advise party of various payment options; advise party of alcohol assessment/Victim Impact Panel responsibility, and process community service or Alcohol Smart referrals.
  • Receipt payments for fines, restitution and other court related fees.
  • Prepare cash and signature bonds, receipt bond monies, complete appropriate paperwork to document bond monies received, and refund bail when ordered.
  • Prepares a variety of complex legal papers such as commitments, judgments, warrants, orders of transfer, notices of case rescheduling, bonds conditions, judgment of convictions, compile pre-sentence investigation data, assessments, revocations/suspensions, and civil judgments.
  • After preparation of court documents and notices, must disseminate to the appropriate agencies; County Jail, Dept. of Corrections, Probation & Parole, Dept. of Transportation, Dept. of Human Services, local agencies, attorneys, or defendants.
  • Receive, process and issue voluminous court documents including, but not limited to, jail releases, warrants, and protective orders.
  • Remain knowledgeable on changes and enhancements to the eFiling system.
  • Assist attorneys and litigants with eFiling questions and troubleshooting.
  • Backup in other areas as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Clerk of Courts.
 Qualifications
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. 
  • One (1) to three (3) years clerical experience, preferable in a legal or judicial office.  Any equivalent combination of experience and post secondary education, which provides the required skills, abilities, and knowledge, will also be considered.
  • Computer experience, keyboarding and word processing experience is required.
  • Experience working with the general public preferred.
  • Prompt and regular attendance.

Park Manager

Job Details: 

Basic Function
To assist in managing the operations and maintenance of the grounds, buildings, equipment, facilities, and activities of the parks assigned for the Racine County Public Works Division.
 
Essential Duties
  • Maintain the grounds, facilities and buildings of assigned parks in a safe, secure, attractive and orderly manner for public use, while assuring the protection of natural resources.
  • Responsible for public contact in enforcing park rules and ordinances, giving information, and maintaining a respectable level of conduct.
  • Schedule, direct, train and enforce safety rules for seasonal staff and any assigned employees.  Recommend discipline and evaluate all seasonal employees assigned.
  • Responsible for the operation, supervision and routine maintenance of equipment in a safe and proper manner.
  • Assist in the maintenance and supervision of the grounds, buildings and facilities at assigned locations.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper records, including but not limited to, attendance, inventory, accident, improvement and equipment records.
  • Make recommendations to the Park Manager on improved effectiveness and efficiency in the parks’ maintenance and operations.
  • Coordinate and prepare for picnic reservations and special events. 
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Post high school course work in resource management, horticulture, forestry or a related field
  • Work experience in grounds and facilities maintenance.
  • Experience supervising staff and working with the public.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain a good rapport with the public and employees.
  • Ability to carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and grounds maintenance equipment.

Park Aide, seasonal 
Racine, WI
Salary: $13.50


Basic Function
To assist in the maintenance of Racine County parks and to operate various types of machinery and equipment.
 
Essential Duties
  • Prepare parks for picnic, camping and sports use.
  • Perform basic landscape and lawn care duties, such as mowing designated areas, planting trees, shrubs, flowers, grass seed, manual weed removal, pruning, etc.
  • Clean buildings and restrooms, and stock facilities as required.
  • Operate various machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Repair, maintain, paint and/or stain park buildings, structures, signs and equipment.
  • Remove garbage, litter and debris from buildings, parking lots and grounds.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on public works equipment. (check and fill oil; check and grease; check tire pressure, lights, other safety checks; properly fuel and clean after it has been used, report problems, etc.)
  • Enforce and/or report ordinance violations to supervisors.
  • Collect fees where applicable, complete paperwork timely and accurately.
  • Show respect and be willing to assist the public.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Experience operating machinery/equipment.
  • Experience in landscape maintenance.
  • Available for work from April to October. 
  • Available to work between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., seven (7) days per week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
  • Prompt and regular attendance.

  • Understanding of how household electrical and plumbing systems work.

Park Mower

Basic Function
To perform various types of maintenance work for Racine County Parks as required. 
Essential Duties 
  • Operate various types of Park maintenance equipment.

  • Perform daily routine maintenance checks on equipment.

  • Transport various types of equipment with truck/trailer from one project to another.

  • Perform other related work as required.

Qualifications 
  • Possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Shall be a minimum of Eighteen (18) years of age
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Available for work flexible hours from the first week in May through the last week in September or October. 
  • Available to work between the hours of 6 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. 40 hours (not guaranteed).
  • Shall have prompt and regular attendance.

  • Occasional (1-33% of workday) sitting, crawling, and exerting up to 100 pounds of force.
